1. Birlingham Photography Club, Tuesday 1st
May
Angela Fitch writes:
The
next meeting of Birlingham Photography Club is on Tuesday 1st May from 7.00pm
until 8.30pm.
Top Worcestershire wedding and portrait photographer,
Richard Barley, makes his first visit to BPC on 1st May. Richard will speak to a
packed audience about the most fundamental of skills for any photographer –
Getting the Light Right!
We’ve all taken photos where faces are in shadow
or the sun has silhouetted the subject, or maybe there has been too much light
and your images have looked washed out – there is only so much that can be done
in Photoshop and it all takes time, so getting it right ‘in-camera’ is what’s
needed. Whether you rely on natural lighting or opt for the control of studio
lights, getting the amount, direction and type of lighting is the crucial
element in making a nice composition a beautifully lit image.
BPC is an
accessible club, suitable for photographers of all abilities. There is no
joining fee, you simply ‘pay and play’ (under 18s to be accompanied).
For
more information about Richard Barley visit www.richardbarleyphotography.com
and check out BPC’s website at www.birlinghamphotography.co.uk

STOP PRESS. Summer exhibition opens mid June
and runs until mid July – ‘Paperback Photographer!’ Free entry, Evesham Library,

6. Family Day, Saturday 19th
May
Paula Aston writes:
The
preparations for the Family Day at the Cricket Club on Saturday 19th May are
moving at a rapid pace now with only a few weeks to go. The Family Day starts
after the Royal Wedding celebrations in the Cricket Club pavilion.
As
always, we need volunteers to run stalls and to help set up and pack down. If
you can’t help on the day perhaps you could help with donations? We need cakes,
books, white elephant, adult and children’s tombola prizes, a teddy bear and any
other donations you would like to make. If you let me know I can pass you to the
stallholder to collect anything.
We also need help on the Friday evening
(18th May) to erect the marquee. This should only take an hour and the bar will
be open afterwards! We will also need assistance taking the marquee down after
the event. If you can help in any way, please contact me on 01386 751425 or
email paston1976@gmail.com.

7. Black Country Evening
Thanks
Adrianne Woodward
writes:
A big thank-you to all of the friends, family and villagers who
came together to make the Black Country Evening such a success.
It had
humour, singing and poetry from Dandy and of course amazing food provided by
Marion New. Special mention must go to Chris Hermon who made an excellent MC and
the local businesses who donated raffle prizes – the Swan Inn, Birlingham
Nurseries and Jayne Brassington.
The Black Country Evening was a
fundraising idea put forward by John Hill and as he is sadly no longer with us
was dedicated to his memory. It was an evening that I’m sure he would have
enjoyed and it raised a creditable £370 for the St James’ Church
funds.
