The schedule for this year’s Birlingham Flower & Produce Show has now been distributed, so it’s time to start planning your entries.

1. Family Service, 6th July

The next Family Service will take place at St James’s Church on Sunday 6th July at 10.15am.

Please come, and bring a colourful umbrella with you!

2. Wychavon Parish Games Entries

Birlingham is entering a darts team and a skittles team in this year’s Wychavon Parish Games.

If you would like to join one of these teams, please contact Denise McGowan on 01386 750443.

3. St James’s Churchyard

The PCC are in the process of tidying the area behind the north wall of the church, where the cremation tablets are located. A number of these stones are badly stained and have become illegible, so they plan to clean them. Any queries or offers of help will be welcome. Please contact Felicity Collier (01386 751194) or Ann Maxwell (01386 751662).

And a small note: Garden waste from elsewhere has been found in the churchyard. The PCC would be grateful if people would not put it there in future.

4. Birlingham Flower & Produce Show Schedule

The schedule for this year’s Flower & Produce Show on Saturday 6th September has now been distributed.

5. Swan Inn Article

The Swan Inn is currently undergoing alterations prior to re-opening later this month. The new owners’ plans have been reported in an article in the Worcester News, which can be viewed at http://m.worcesternews.co.uk/news/11285924.Popular_country_pub_gets_new_owners__and_a_new_look.

Meanwhile, the Cricket Club bar will be open each evening from Wednesday to Sunday.

6. West Mercia Police Information

West Mercia Police have sent us the following information:

Paper tax discs for cars are being discontinued from 1st October 2014 and the system will be completely electronic. The important thing to remember is although tax discs are going, you still need to pay the tax itself!
