There are plenty of activities coming up in the next two weeks and it's time to get your entries in for the annual Hanging Basket Competition.

1. Cheese & Wine Party and Open Garden, 23rd June
 
A reminder that there is a Cheese & Wine Party and Open Garden tonight (23rd June) at Box Farmhouse, Whitehall Lane (courtesy of Nick and Mary Sadler) from 6.00pm to 8.00pm.
 
Proceeds in aid of the Village Hall Roof Appeal. Tickets £8. All welcome.

2. Cricket 20/20 v NH Jockeys & Trainers, 28th June
 
There will be a cricket match on Thursday 28th June between the local team and a team of NH Jockeys & Trainers. The match is at Birlingham Cricket Ground, starting at 6.00pm. The format is 20/20 (each team has 20 overs).
 
There will be a barbecue and raffle in aid of the Injured Jockeys Fund.

3. Village Day Out to Barry Island, 8th July
 
The Village Day Out to Barry Island will take place on Sunday 8th July, leaving Birlingham Village Hall at 8.00am and returning at approximately 8.00pm.
 
Tickets are £15 for adults and £7 for children under 16; children under 4 are free. Please note that seats must be booked and paid for by next weekend (1st July) at the latest. 4. Presidents XI v Cricket Club, 8th July
 
There will be a cricket match on Sunday 8th July between the Presidents XI and Birlingham Cricket Club. The match is at Birlingham Cricket Ground, starting at 2.00pm.
 
The match is for Vice Presidents Day. Tea is at 4.45pm.

5. Hanging Basket, Pot or Front Garden Competition
 
The Hanging Basket Competition, organised as part of the Flower & Produce Show, has been extended this year in honour of the Jubilee to include pots and areas of front garden.

This year there is a red, white and blue theme. Judging will take place on Saturday 21st July. The winner will be awarded the Birlingham Nurseries Rose Bowl and this will be presented at the Show on Saturday 1st September.

6. Cricket Match: Birlingham Villagers vs. Smiths Angling Club
 
The cricket match between Birlingham Villagers and Smiths Angling Club due to take place on 8th June was postponed due to bad weather. The match will be rescheduled later in the summer.
